  The city of the Trojans on the coast of the Troad, ruled by Anchises's kin; Aphrodite descends there to find Anchises herding cattle on nearby Mount Ida.

• The Iliad §1.59 Ilium

  The city of the Trojans on the coast of the Troad, under siege by the Achaeans for the war's tenth and final year as the poem opens; called Ilium interchangeably throughout.

• The Odyssey §1.1 Troy

  The city besieged and sacked by the Achaeans in the Trojan War, whose aftermath sends every hero, Odysseus among them, on a long or fatal homecoming.
