• The Homeric Hymns §17.1 Tyndareus

  King of Sparta, husband of Leda, whose name gives the Dioscuri their standing epithet 'sons of Tyndareus' even though their true father is Zeus.

• The Odyssey §11.253 Tyndareus

  Leda's husband, whom the poem names plainly as the father of Castor and Polydeuces — the twins who, Odysseus reports, live and die on alternate days beneath the earth.
