Agamemnon

also: Ἀγαμέμνων, Ἀγαμεμνονίδης, son of Atreus, Ἀτρεΐδης

King of Mycenae, leader of the Achaeans at Troy, murdered on his homecoming by his wife's lover Aegisthus; his fate is the poem's dark counter-example to Odysseus's own hoped-for return.
